Weigh a small amount of sample in a beaker.

Add Nitric acid to the sample.

Add Hydroflouric acid

Add 0.1 to 1ml of Hydrogen Peroxide (for complete oxidation of organic matter). Add this only when components of sample are known since H2O2 can react rapidly and violently with oxidizable metals.

Digest sample using a Microwave Digestor.

Transfer to 50ml volumetric flask then dilute to mark.

Read the absorbance/intensity of each sample AAS or ICP for each element.

Run also the standard solutions in the AAS/ICP and measure the linear regression (LR). Atleast 3 different concentrations of the standard must be measured for each element.

Calculate concentration of Lead, Cadmium and Mercury in sample using Linear Regression.
